Dynamo = More Money

According to a KHOU article, the City of Houston is being asked to spend $10 million for the new Dynamo Stadium along with $10 million from Harris County.

I am all for stadiums when they bolster the economy, but is this really a stadium that the City of Houston should pay for? How many years will it take in sales taxes collected from people going to the games and going to the restaurants and businesses around the stadium to pay back $10 million?

The total bill of $50 million for this stadium was too much for the owners of the team and for local businesses to collect. If people wanted this stadium that badly, why not try again to raise the money? It seems the City of Houston might be better off funding the road projects that would need to take place from a new stadium than paying for the stadium itself. That, to me, would seem like a better way to help "kickoff" the new stadium.
